The New Man, a slightly different angle

Everybody keeps talking about how complicated it is to be a career woman in our world.
Tons of books have been published about the feminist revolution and its influence on women's freedom. Moreover, some of us that have families and careers, feel - when we finally get to sleep at midnight - like a dog that has chased its own tail all day...
Still, I feel that the "New Man" is undergoing a greater revolution (and evolution).
The "poor hunter" responsible for bringing the bread home, now needs to be a sensitive and supportive husband, an involved father; to conserve his energy and to continue to bring the bread home in a very competitive society – where he changes his work place every 3-4 years - in a global world with flexible time zones and to fly a lot.
Let's look at my friend Gadi's June calendar.
Gadi is a CEO of a start up company, with 3 daughters and a wife with her own career.
June is the last month of school in Israel before a long summer break.
On the 1st week of June, Gadi’s wife was on an important business trip abroad.
On regular weeks, he leaves early twice a week (“to be an involved father”) allowing his wife to progress with her career ("to be an involved husband"). This week he needs to be home early every day.
Grandma was recruited, so he must answer his mobile every 10 minutes to provide explanation as to where the ballet outfits are located etc.. “For God's sake, they never built us to be organized like women – we are hunters!"
Gadi almost didn't sleep this week – not because of the kids. He just spent every free minute to get reconnected with his work. His laptop was with him at dinner, when he read the kids a bedtime story and maybe even in the shower. (Going to the toilet with the laptop is quite usual and normal...)
When his wife returned and he was supposed to be supportive because she was exhausted; he had to listen to all her detailed stories; he then went to work, which meant he had failed the test of being a supportive husband.
Week 2 was an easy one. Only one evening event at school, that fortunately coincided with “his day” with the kids; the rest of the week he came home, as always, at 10:00 pm, which allows him to catch up on the previous week's work.
But living in the modern world doesn't let you live relax for long, and on the 3rd week it became evident. Each of his 3 daughters had rehearsals for her end-of-school-year shows; these usually start in the middle of the day – 4 pm. "4 pm! What do they expect us to do? Stop working for a month?!”
I will skip the second half of the month -- You can imagine the continued pain and suffering. In order to manage the family timetable this month, Gadi used Agile Methodology...
For me, the "New Man" evolution is no more than a side-effect of the feminine revolution. To paraphrase on the famous song - “Stand by your woman”. Anybody begs to differ?
